Scope 1 · 2 · 3

Every scope, every source, one system

Carbonix tracks direct emissions, purchased energy and value-chain emissions across all GHG Protocol scopes — with supplier workflows for the hard parts.

Scopes, quickly explained

Scope 1 covers emissions you cause directly — fuel burned in your boilers, furnaces, kilns and vehicle fleet. Scope 2 covers the electricity you purchase, calculated with grid emission factors. Scope 3 covers everything else in your value chain: purchased goods, logistics, business travel, product use and disposal — often the largest share of a manufacturer's footprint.

Regulators and customers increasingly ask for all three. BRSR Core and CBAM pull value-chain data into mandatory territory, ending the era of Scope 3 as an optional estimate.

The Scope 3 challenge — solved with workflows

Scope 3 is hard because the data lives outside your walls. Carbonix provides supplier data-collection portals, spend-based estimation for early coverage, and activity-based precision where it matters — with each category's method documented, so estimates improve over time instead of silently misstating your footprint.

Scope 1 and 2 run on automated operational data: meters, ERP records, fuel logs and utility bills, converted with recognised emission factors and full audit trails.

From tracking to reduction

Once scopes are visible, Carbonix ranks reduction levers by cost and impact — fuel switching, energy efficiency, grid factors, supplier engagement — turning your inventory into a decarbonisation plan.

Frequently asked questions

+What are Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions?

Scope 1: direct emissions from sources you own or control, like boilers and vehicles. Scope 2: emissions from the electricity you buy. Scope 3: all other value-chain emissions — suppliers, logistics, travel, product use — organised into 15 standard categories under the GHG Protocol.

+Which Scope 3 categories does Carbonix cover?

All 15 GHG Protocol categories are supported, with prioritised, category-appropriate methods — supplier-specific data where available, activity-based calculations where meters exist, and transparent spend-based estimates as a documented fallback.

+How accurate is Scope 3 data?

Accuracy improves in stages: spend-based estimates give immediate coverage, then activity data and supplier-specific inputs replace them category by category. Carbonix tracks data quality per category so your disclosures are honest about methodology.
